I fell in love with the Internet pretty early in my life.
I was the definition of a nerd (that’s not a bad thing!) and had a hard time fitting in with my peers. I loved music though, so once I had saved up enough money for my first computer when I was 12, I took a deep dive into the message boards of all of my favorite bands. I met friends, learned how to play new songs, started leaving my house to go to concerts, and eventually decided to start writing about it all.
Fast forward a few years, my music blog turned into a small side hustle. It had expanded to a YouTube channel, which was providing me with a sponsorship or two every now and then. At the time, I was studying Film, Video & Media Studies + Political Science, with a dream of working in a newsroom or on a music video set. My first freelancing clients found me through my videos, and after a few months of juggling gigs with my full-time retail work and full-time school, I had made enough to quit my ‘day job’ until I graduated college.
After graduation, I decided to give Corporate America a try. I worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies in Detroit, Michigan and learned from some of the best of the best! I managed an innovative digital chat lab, learned everything you’d ever want to know about engine sizes and towing capacity, created content for influential thought leaders, and managed the paid social ad strategy for one of the most well-known staffing companies in the world… all while working on freelance social media projects of my own.
A few years into my side-hustle, I experienced a heartbreaking tragedy, had a scary struggle with my mental health, and realized something had to change. I saved up some money, quit my comfortable salaried job, and hit my first 5-figure month three months in. I started The Freelance Friday Podcast, shifted gears on my YouTube channel to focus on entrepreneurial content, and created a few courses to help others out.
Since then, I’ve expanded my service offerings to include 1:1 and group coaching, and have helped my clients double their incomes, quit their day jobs, launch courses, podcasts, and grow their teams. I’ve also been fortunate to be invited to speak at dozens of conferences and events.
