How Freelancers Can Prove ROI To Their Clients

Today’s episode came from a question in my Facebook group:

“A client asked me to guarantee a certain number of sales/sign ups/conversions. Do you do this?”

Here are my tips for proving ROI and whether or not you should guarantee any particular results as a freelancer.

Showcase social proof

  • Case studies are more about results and data

  • Testimonials typically showcase how I was to work with

  • Most of my case studies are sent out as needed, but testimonials are public on my website

Set objectives and get aligned on goals

  • Create a client intake form that helps prioritize their goals

  • Set S.M.A.R.T. goals (Specific, Measurable, Actionable, Relevant, Timely)

  • Use these objectives to drive your strategy, budgets, and reporting

Track everything

  • Use UTM codes or bit.ly

  • Use the Facebook Pixel to track conversions and retarget

  • Send out client reports, even if they don’t ask to see them
