Travel Diary: Chicago

Believe it or not, I've never been to Chicago... Well, except to get on a plane.

Chicago is situated just 2.5 hours southwest of my hometown Kalamazoo, MI, and driving there from Detroit meant I got to kill two birds with one stone... a quick lunch with family followed by a wedding weekend in the city.

So I went.

Kalamazoo was cute, but what else is new?

We stayed right in downtown Chicago, meaning we spent a little too much time shopping. Right after checking in, we hit Topshop, H&M, and Uniqlo (fave!) Topshop & Uniqlo are not anywhere near southeast Michigan so we took advantage. Plus, we had some last minute wedding accessories to pick up.

Wedding day was a gorgeous, sunny, 80 degree day, calling for anything but a full coverage foundation. The combo of H&M's Beauty Balm with Farmacy's Skin Dew was killer... in the best way possible. I am so shocked I fell so hard for a budget BB Cream but the coverage is perfect, it's moisturizing as heck, and it felt super smooth on my skin.

One thing I wasn't surprised about, however, was how much I loved the Skin Dew. Farmacy sent me this to try out recently*, and only until now had I discovered its truly mystifying effects. Last weekend I really got to test it out, and I can confirm: it is amazing. It's perfect for refreshing tired makeup, soothing dry skin, and simply cooling down.

I. Love. This. Stuff.

After the wedding, we went to Uniqlo again. Yeah... I know.

But to be fair, there's a Starbucks in it! And we totally needed Starbucks.

We also did the whole "bean selfie" thing, which I don't really understand. I'm not hating on you Chicago, but I just don't think it's the prettiest thing ever. Either way, I'm a nerd, I'm a tourist, whatever...

Sushi at Nori Neighborhood Sushi Bar was divine.

And Wicker Park was some kind of magic. I could totally live here. I'm pretty upset we didn't visit until our last day, but it's totally my scene and I absolutely can't wait to go back. I'm comin' for ya! Someday soon, I hope.
